Our Kata Only class allows participants the option to workout physically when concerns of physical contact during sparring exercises found in other classes prohibit participation. Kata are the exercises in karate using karate techniques and concepts organized in a pattern of movement. Kata allow the study of self-defense application without needing a partner.
The practice of karate kata can be physically exhausting if one chooses to exert the energy. Our classes do study the application of the techniques found in the kata forms and can involve a partner, but not in a sparring capacity. Additionally, the classes may incorporate conditioning exercises to strentgthen the muscles needed to perform the kata movements.
Participants in these classes are typically protecting compromised health conditions or rehabing injuries, but not always. They can be professionals who want to train, but are protecting against traumatic injury that could compromise their career. (i.e.- surgeons, dancers, etc…) Yet most of the participants enjoy doing kata and appreciate the opportunity to have additional trsaining opportunities.
Our Kata Only classes can accommodate all of these reasons.
